First of all mom guilt.

We had visitors stay who didn't tell me they were fighting colds for the past 4 days. My friend assured me she was feeling better, but kept sneezing on occasion but not all the time.

We asked them to wash their hands, but as a couple without experience of babies they say "the baby should build up his immune system" etc...

I educated them in the fact a newborn is very susceptible to infection and getting ill.

My mom guilt kicks in as my exhaustion and trust in my friend saying she is getting better got the better of me.

After 3 days and 2 nights staying with us, my baby got sick the 3rd night. Screaming and we couldn't calm her down each evening for the past 3 evenings.

Her nose is runny, her sneezes are frequent and a hoarse cough which I've never heard before.

I'm doing my best, nursing on demand and lots of cuddles. Going to the pediatrician today.

If you were in this situation would you tell your friend what happened?

I regret not putting my foot down and not screening them before they got on their flight to see us. At the same time they did not warn us after I reached out to check how they were doing.

Feeling low and a failure. I let this happen to my baby 😞
