taking the pill "correctly"

maddi

so until a while ago I somehow didn't know it's important to take the pill at the same time each day. I thought that as long as you take it you're good. I'm on a combined pill that I rarely miss but I don't take it at the same time ever. Usually in the morning hours.

Then during a pregnancy scare a few weeks ago I was researching it and got two answers: 1) you have to take the pill, no matter what kind it is, every day at the same time for it to be most effective and 2) if you take the combination pill, as long as you take it every day it's just as effective.

The information packet that comes with my pill says to take it every day at the same time. But then Planned Parenthood's website says that the combination pill only needs to be taken every day and timing isn't important. Maybe that is only said in the information packet to protect the company for when bc fails? A lot of other sources said either of those answers so I really don't know whether I should be trusting my birth control at all (with the way ive been taking it I mean).

anyone have knowledge on this?
