Same name?!!

Question

So I’ve always loved the name Tatum for a girl. When I was pregnant with our daughter I suggested it but my husband quickly said NO. The reason is, my 11 year old stepdaughter has a cousin on her mom’s side whose name is Tatum. Could it still be an option this time around?? Or definitely need to avoid it??

I don't think I would want my sister to have the same name as my cousin. 
I feel like the way you described it "stepdaughter's maternal cousin" sounds distant enough but that's looking at it as distance from you. And I don't know, I think a new baby sister is a big transition for a preteen and maybe even a bit harder if it's a step sister. So I would want to take her perspective into consideration. And from her perspective, it's not distant at all... sister and cousin sharing a name feels like too much.

Try to suggest it again . I liked the name and suggested it for our son till people started saying Tatum or Tate for a nickname sounded like “Taint”. 🙄

You need to both agree on the name, if it's a hard no for your SO then you should keep looking.

I love the name Tatum! We aren’t finding out what we are having and i want to name the baby Tatum no matter what gender. But my husband says it’s only a boy name! I say go for it !
