I'm looking for a little direction/advice. I originally planned on taking 6 weeks maternity leave because of finances. I have short term disability and was approved 6 weeks pay at 60% of my pay. Well, we are doing better financially than we thought we would and I am now wanting to take more time. I live in Louisiana. My boss says that legally I am allowed 12 weeks but advised that I talk to my Doctor before talking to HR. Should I talk to my Doctor or HR first?
