Testing

If I had sex on the first of January when should I test? I tested today and it was negative. I also had bleeding with huge blood clots 2 weeks ago with breast pain and lower back pain. I’m also on the pill so I’m not sure if this was break through bleeding or not. If I took a test today and it was negative is that accurate?
