What do you think of the first name Alistair or Alister for a boy? It means “defender of humankind”

My hubby is dead set on this name. I love the meaning, but can’t decide if I like the name itself and if it would be a name my little boy would hate having.

I think alister could be really cute and go by Ali (cool for a boy when that’s his real name!) but alaister felt more confusing to me.

That is the name my 12 year old son already calls his baby brother, it’s a character in his favorite book. I really really like it! But my husband says they’ll call him Al.. and we have a brother in law named Al who doesn’t give the name good vibes haha But Alistair is still in the running.. great name!
