Moses baskets ... necessary?

So I have been researching and I’m having doubts of the necessity of a Moses basket 🧺 . Can I put my newborn directly into a cot ? 🤷🏽‍♀️ With No loose blankets or pillows ... 
What are mum to be’s or mums responses ? X

We bought a cheap Moses basket in the aldi sale purely for downstairs so she is able to have a snooze without our little miniature daschund trying to join her. We've got a next to me crib upstairs and then she has a cot/bed in her nursery for when she's older. She probably has more beds than necessary...

I’m going to use my Moses basket downstairs then we have a compact cot for our bedroom and a cot bed in the nursery for when the baby gets older.

My son did not like the Moses basket but loved his pram 🙈 we ended up just using his pram as we could rock him to sleep and it was so handy to move him around then we moved him to his cot after a few months I think 🤔

Both my boys grew out of the Moses basket within a couple week. I also don’t swaddle (personal preference) and their arms were always hitting the side and waking them up. I moved them to a pack n play next to the bed for naps and nighttime sleep.

I’ve got a crib and a next to be bed for my little one. I think Moses baskets are a waste of money. They ain’t in them 5 minutes. If you feel comfortable putting baby in a cot then I don’t see nothing wrong with that as long as they are safe 🤷🏼‍♀️

I've got the next2me for our room and the hug 4 in1 for bottom floor. Both are bigger than a moses basket I think.

I have a Moses basket downstairs (mokee wool nest - it’s lovely), a co-sleeper in our bedroom (next to me) and a full size cot in the nursery. I find having a Moses basket downstairs very handy

I used a Moses basket downstairs for naps during the day. We have an old fashioned crib for our bedroom and a cot in the nursery. My eldest liked the Moses basket and we got about 4-5 months use out of it. I plan to use all the same sleeping items for baby #2 due in May.

I used a Moses basket with both my babies but they didn’t get long out them because they were long babies. I think they only lasted 4 months.
