When did EBFing get easier for you and your LO?

I’ve been EBF for 4 weeks now and it’s still incredibly hard. I watch other moms seem to have such an easy time and I’m so jealous. My LO needs to use a nipple shield due to poor latch. Using the shield isn’t the problem, the problem is that he wants to feed every hour during the day and eats for 30 minutes each time. He can’t latch on without my guidance and I get really frustrated at times. It’s taking everything in me not to switch to formula but I know I’d feel so guilty if I made that switch.
