Well, today is the day that I mocked the cockatoo (watch the YouTube video) with my “wtf” situation. Bear with me, this is a rocky road.

I’ve been working for a specialist for quite some time, and we’re closing practice. The doctor is retiring. So... back in November a new provider wanted to do solo practice and “left” her corporation she was hired at. I was highly recommended to this doctor for practice management so she hired me on.

It started off great, she paid well. Got her business going. Fast forward three months... she writes me a paycheck on 1/4 for a large sum... the following week, it bounced. So that Friday, she writes me a check for half and let’s me go, promising to pay the following week.

Two weeks later, no payment, so I send her an invoice. (At this point, I’ve involved the previous doctor for advice on handling this situation. She is even appalled by it all.) The doctor who owes me responded to the invoice by asking what I did with a patient copay from two weeks ago, and since I deleted the Facebook page, that’ll be deducted too, oh but I also did work for the first doctor on the clock of the second and that needs discussed.

Basically, she’s broke because of her choices, and can’t pay me so she’s making excuses on “deducting” my pay.

I am well beyond pissed and needed a place to vent.

Anyone else been stiffed by a former employer? It’s been well over the 72 hour mark. 🤬
