At my last appointment my doctor mentioned wanting to induce me a week early since my last baby was so big, 9.6 lbs. I really don’t want to be induced if I don’t have to be. I’ll be getting a growth scan my next visit but I know those things can be terribly off since they told me my son would be around 7.3 ounces. 🙄 I’m going to mention inducing at 40 weeks if I don’t go into labor on my own by my due date. What would y’all do?

That’s not what I’d call a good medical reason for induction. One baby being big doesn’t automatically mean the same for the next one. And even if your baby was measuring big (from what you said it sounds like it’s not), they can’t actually tell how much baby weighs from an ultrasound. It’s a guess. Tell them no, it’ll be much easier on you and baby.

I mean they can’t force you to do anything you don’t want to do. 
I really didn’t want to be induced but because of GD and insulin it was the safer route   If you don’t feel it’s necessary and want to wait to go into labor naturally that’s really your choice   I’d go over it with your doctor the risks and benefits for each way and decide   Usually they won’t induce unless there’s a valid reason

I've had a baby as big as 9lbs 11oz. The next one I was induced for but that was on his due date and because of my over all pregnancy as well as his weight. They were telling me over 10 lbs he was 9lbs 4.5oz. If you don't want to be induced they can not force you to. The latest you should wait is 41 weeks as it's shown things start to decline in the womb at this point. But before then don't let them force you into anything you don't want. Those scans can be off by up to a pound! If you've already given birth vaginally to a 9lb baby I think you'll be OK if you have another that size. At least I was with my children

You can start acupuncture at 37 weeks. It can help you move things along more naturally. That’s what I plan to do.

Just tell them you’re not interested in a induction. You have the right to say yes or no.

If you don't want to they can't force it, so just tell them and stick to your guns. They can sometimes be a bit pushy about these things, but the decision is entirely yours.

You need to mention your wants and needs. If you want to wait they need to respect that. Explain you understand their desire to induce early but would prefer to wait if there is no medical necessity. I was induced with my first and it was not bad at all I know personal experiences are different but I feel horror stories are what you are most likely to hear even though it’s not the majority.
