My Grandma’s legal name was Billie, and she HATED it. Obviously she grew up in a different time, but she complained about it until she was in her 80’s. I think it’d be okay as a nickname for a more feminine sounding name maybe.

I don't know... I would not want to be named Billie. I agree with another commenter that it could be a nickname if you found a more formal full name. Or is there any other way to honor your dad? A middle name, or a favorite song or place or something? Is his full name William? I bet there are several other girl names options derived from that.

I’ve loved the name Billie for a girl every since Days of our Lives ❤️ A close family member of mine was William; I wish my husband would let us name a girl Billie after him but I know he won’t so not even suggesting it. I say go for it!
