Is massage okay in the first trimester? I’m 7 weeks and my friend gifted (she doesn’t know I’m preggo!) me a massage. Thoughts?

The “no massage before 12 weeks” isn’t based on anything. Like literally no science, just people being crazy overcautious. Literally the day I found out I was pregnant I had a massage scheduled and I kept the appointment. I didn’t tell the masseuse I was pregnant. The baby is tucked behind your pelvic bone they aren’t going to touch it. Toxins don’t start floating around from a massage. Your liver and kidneys are going to take care of waste as always.

I had a massage right after I found out, I told the masseuse and she said it was ok, she would just avoid certain pressure points, so I’d just ask your masseuse, they should know what to do with their proper training

Depends on the massage place, most refuse in the first trimester... too much of a liability thing. When I went in my second trimester they were very strict that I had to be in my second trimester before they would touch me. Though some will gladly, you would have to ask.

Most massage therapist refuse to take a client less than 12 weeks pregnant due to risk of miscarriage. Better to err ok n the side of caution. I found out whe my sister in law had a spa day and I asked the masseuse.

I know i work at a hair salon and we have a spa and it’s recommended that you wait after the first trimester to do the massage but ask your doctor
