I Had To Call The Cops Last Night
If I’m wrong, please tell me...
I have a neighbor who is less than neighborly when it comes to her kids and “quiet time”. I have a townhouse that is literally side my side with other townhouses and the walls are super thin. I don’t watch tv (I don’t even own one) so I can hear absolutely everything. Ever since I became pregnant I’ve been noticing the noise a bit more, and during my first three months I was extremely sick and all I wanted to do was rest. My neighbor allows her two daughters to run up and down the stairs ALL DAY and night. She doesn’t tell them to quiet down or anything. I’ve knocked a few times to ask her to quiet it down, even sent her a few text messages, but nothing worked. So I reluctantly complained to my management. When I was told that she had to move (not because of my complaints- she is evicted for something else) I felt so bad! But then she started having parties and millions of kids over on purpose to annoy me. Those kids sounded like they were in a full-blown mosh pit! (7, 8, 9 year olds)
So last night, well more like 2 in the morning, her music and her kids and their company were taking it a bit too far. So I called the police. They came over right away. When they left it got super quiet and I was able to sleep. But I woke up this morning feeling bad. I wish I didn’t have to do that, but I’ve reached my breaking point. I can’t help but to think that I wouldn’t even be able to bring my baby home to this because he or she would NEVER get any sleep and that would make me even more upset.
Am I the one not being neighborly? Did I take it a step too far? Is it wrong to want quiet at 12, 1, and 2 o’clock in the morning?
