Do you ever feel ready??

Question

I know I want more children but every time i think about having a second one I cry at the thought of sharing my love from my first baby! I just love her so so so much!! How do I become ok with having a second baby? How do I know my first baby won’t be heartbroken?! This is my baby girl Caroline. She’s six months old. When do you guys recommend having a second?

I believe the professional recommendation is to wait at least 9 months (if not 18 mo the) before getting pregnant again. This is to lessen the risks for both mom and second baby. Once your first becomes more independent, you may find you have more time and energy for a second.

My son just turned 4 months 2 days ago and we’ve decided to start trying during my next cycle for #2😬😬😬 we’ve just had SO much fun these past 4 months and I really want my children close in age. I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of judgement but we’re so excited to start trying!  I say do whatever will make you happy! If you feel you still need more time just the 3 of you, then don’t rush!!!

I just had my second and had the same worries all through the pregnancy. Mommy guilt is real. The first week was the hardest for my daughter who turned 2 in Nov. She has had emotional/defiant episodes and alternates between wanting mommy, and and wanting nothing to do with mommy. She is wonderful to her brother and doesn't act jealous towards him thankfully. 
It is a big change for everyone! She is adjusting. As for being able share your love... the second I saw my son was a moment of bliss, as if my heart grew. I couldn't imagine having as much love for my kids as I do!

I am not ready to share the love, I can’t even imagine yet but I know it will be fine. It won’t be like picking favorites, but each child would have their unique character and would receive or perceive a unique connection with me. I wouldn’t do it now with a 4mo.. I’d wait until she’s more independent and can walk/use the bathroom.

I've recently done some research as I've had three in the last four years. They recommended you waiting 18-24 months to give your body time to replenish your vitamin stores and the likes. My daughter was two and a half when my third came and I thought that was a great time frame for my family. This time there will only be a year and a half and I'm a bit nervous about how I'll split my time with the newborn and my youngest. It always works out but I've honestly never felt ready for the next except between my first and second because there is seven years between them

I didn’t have my 2nd until my oldest was almost 10. I still wasn’t ready but it’s been perfect having 2 kids. I didn’t think I could ever love another child like I did my son but I was so wrong. I couldn’t imagine my life any other way now.

I feel the same exact way. Before I had my son, I always said I wanted 4 kids for as long as I can remember. Now I honestly cant imagine loving another baby as much as I love him. I’ve thought about not having anymore babies but I want my son to have siblings and a big family. My son is 14 months now and my husband is ready for #2 soon, but it breaks my heart to think of having another baby and not being able to give my son my full attention like I do now! 😭
