HDHP with a baby?

I’m due in a month and I’m afraid I will be denied for Medicaid for the baby. My husband and I have insurance individually through our work but we could BARELY afford it if we had to add a baby. Like it would leave us with literally nothing and I cannot cut our budget more than I already have. I’m trying to see if I can switch to the HDHP and and make voluntary contributions that we could afford. My employer puts money into the account as well and all well child/preventative visits are covered at 100% no charge at all as well as any vaccinations. Would this be a crazy thing to do? The cost of the HDHP is at least $190 cheaper a month! so I could do at least $100 a month voluntary contributions.

What should I do??
