How to pass a glucose test?

I’ve had 2 of my coworkers fail their first 1-hour glucose test. And now I’m starting to get nervous. I’ve heard you have to keep it low carb for a couple of days before? Is that true?

Theres no way for you to prevent GD. It's a test to see how your body processes sugar and how much insulin you produce. You cant prevent it by dieting before. You either have GD or dont and it's okay if you have it. You just take the precautions your doctor tells you for the health of you and the baby. Its nothing to be ashamed of at all.

My OB told me to eat a ton of protein for breakfast the morning of the test. She said bacon and eggs and no carbs for breakfast. She specifically told me not to eat peanut butter or pancakes/toast. Good luck!

I failed my first test two Thursdays ago with a 140. Ate healthier for a couple days and exceeded normal for a good week for me. I wouldn’t say I was trying to cheat the test just doing what’s knew I was supposedly be doing. Then I had a work lunch the day before my  3 hour and let myself have the dessert along with. I had lasagna and a huge salad for dinner and didn’t get in any real exercise the day before my test. Thought for sure I would fail. I passed but by my last blood draw I was at a 45 and so shakey. Bring a high protein snack with a little carb I brought a granola bar and a apple with peanut butter so I could drive. You can’t cheat the test. Try to do everything normal before it. I hope you pass too but if you don’t it is common and can be managed and treated thanks to modern medicine. Good Luck!!🤞

Gd is all based on hormones from the placenta. As my high risk dr explained it. The placenta produces hormones that makes you insulin resistant. I had gd with my Daughter and have it now have been diagnosed since 12 weeks and on insulin since 14 weeks.

Hello. I don’t think it’s a case of passing of failing. It’s just designed to detect whether you have gestational diabetes as it can be important that it’s picked up if you do have it so it’s best to just follow the instructions given which is usually just fast for a few hours before hand and that’s it. Most people do not have GD so you probably don’t have anything to worry about but the test will tell you for sure. Best of luck :) x

Try to stay away from as much sugar as you can for 1-2 days prior to. If you have GD, you will still fail, but it may not be as severe from what I’ve heard.

You can't really do anything to pass. But I was told to not eat carbs that morning before you go so last time I just had a couple hard boiled eggs for breakfast and I passed.
