I suppose it depends on culture. Typically gifts are appropriate. Traditionally gifts are shipped to the brides parent's house (which is where the bride would have lived).  Shipping gifts has increased with online shopping.

Since you're getting married you should register. Target, Macy's, Bed Bath & Beyond, honeyfund.com (people can give gifts toward honeymoon, or new home, etc), Amazon. Just make sure you have a variety of prices.  If you truly don't want gifts ask that a donation be made to your favorite charity

You don't bring gifts to the ceremony. You bring them to the reception, which is the party after.

Typically I attend the wedding shower as well. 
The general rule is give the more expensive gift at the actual wedding. 
Go register for like 30 things you would be happy getting. That way when people ask you can say where you are registered. It's okay not to include it in the wedding invites.

If you are invited to a wedding you should bring a gift... Cash is a perfectly acceptable gift though but plenty of people brought presents to our wedding and many just sent them to our house.

Yes I believe u do. People usually bring like house hold items such as candles, or maybe a painting or kitchen items like a nice dish set or China. U can just easily register at Walmart or a bed bath & beyond.
