New Job and New Budget
Just got my 2 yr degree and got a great job within 2 weeks of graduation!!! I’m getting ready to move into my first apartment in a couple months and am putting together a budget. Is $800-900 on rent reasonable for $3200 a month after taxes and insurance (plus or minus a little)? I will have one car payment, which would be $350 at the absolute most and our phone bill is $140. My car insurance is about $150. Utilities are for 2 people. I will use Netflix instead of cable. I went to culinary school, so I cook all my food. I already have most of the furniture I need; the few things I need, I will get from Ikea. I’m pretty frugal, so I don’t buy expensive clothes, manicures, designer clothes, etc. I live in a city, so it’s hard to find a decent apartment that’s cheaper. I’m just trying to get an idea of what’s feasible with my income, plus I found a great apartment for around $900 that’s closer to my office (which means shorter commute times and saving money on gas). Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
