School delays and closings

Me

So I live in Alabama and yes it is kind of true that some of us southerners do not know to function in the snow. With that being said many times, the schools will have delays when it gets too cold so the buses have extra time to warm up and so that the younger kids don’t have to wait around for bus in 10 degree weather. Many parents tend to get upset about this since this typically means that they have to go into work later or have to struggle to find someone to watch their kid during this time. Many parents also complain when the schools would be let out for snow (most places close when it snows here) and when there is mention of severe weather (we had some really bad tornadoes a couple years ago and many parents couldn’t get to their kids so school gets canceled almost everytime). Do you think parents are justified in this even if the school system is trying to protect the children?

Also the school zone I lived in included people that lived in very rural areas where the roads weren’t salted for snow.
