A little concerned, what do you think?

Question

So we had our anatomy scan Thursday, very exciting and happy to find out we're having a girl. During the ultrasound  the tech was happily pointing out all her parts and saying they looked great, til we got to her kidneys, which i could clearly see, and the tech didnt say anything. Then when seeing my doctor right afterwards she told me everything looked good but ill need to cpme in for another ultrasound in a month to look at her kidneys, that the tech didnt get a clear shot and it was far to early to worry about anythimg. She did make me feel better by saying the amniotic fluod level was good and if her kidneys werent working right it would be low. Im  still conserned and feel like shes not telling me something. Am i overeacting?

With my first, they had me come back in a week later because the dr. was a little concerned about there being four chambers in her heart. I was so scared! We had the same ultrasound tech who reassured me our daughter was completely healthy that she saw the four chambers both times. The doctors are just extremely extra cautious! Try not to stress too much,  good luck!

When my husband and I went it almost 2 weeks ago for our ultrasound, the Dr told us there was a little spot on the baby's heart, Called a calcium pocket. He said normal it is not a big deal. Usually only 1% of babies with it turns into something. He said in his years of practice, about 4 women a month of all he sees has this with the baby. And after additional blood work there's no concern. So I did my additional blood work before we left office that day, the nurse called me today and said everything came back good, no farther testing or anything. So if there was any concerns with your baby they would have told you right then.

I agree that they are just being extra cautious and "covering their asses".  Your next scan will put your mind at ease.

Kinda the same thing happened to me, she couldn't get a good look at my baby stomach so at my next appt in 4 weeks they are doing another scan. I just need to be told not to worry ;(

They want a REAL good look. We saw the face during mine but it wasn't good enough for the tech so I'm having another U/S at my next appointment.  They are just being thorough. Don't worry!!!

They are making me go back too. I'm getting a level 2 sono because I guess of where the baby is and stuff it's hard to see the lower spine and heart. They said they think it's done is just their machine is not as sensitive.

If there had been anything with the kidneys she would've known right then and there,my sister is 23 weeks and at 17 weeks she found out her babies kidneys aren't working properly,they are only working about 25%. They also had to go and put a stent in him because of the kidneys not working properly. They are hopeing she doesn't go into labor before 32 weeks because she will lose him if so,but they have also said there is a chance she may lose him 1/-2 weeks after she has him even after 32 weeks. Her fluid is also extremely low. But if they had seen anything they would have let you know then. I'm sure everything is good. 😊

I doubt she's withholding information. Sometimes you just can't see very accurately with the sono and she wants to be sure of what's going on with the kidneys. Try not to stress too much.

It sounds like your OB team is being proactive. I know it is so hard not to worry and waiting to know if something is wrong makes time go by slower. It isn't usual though for them to "think" they saw something at this stage in the game and then when the organs get bigger they confirm it was nothing. Like your doctor said your baby's kidneys are working by evidence of your amniotic fluid level. When your mind starts racing just remember right now your body is meeting all of your baby's needs at this moment. Hugs to you!
