Before surgery, did you trust your gut feeling that you knew you had endo/ something wrong?

I’m possibly having surgery and I feel a bit crazy... but I’m in pain everyday still and I don’t know what else I can do. I just need to know I’m not the only one who felt like this before surgery. It’s expensive and I believe I’m ready

I knew something was wrong for ages. My mom tried telling me to suck it up, that period cramps are supposed to be painful. It took nearly a year of trying and failing to get pregnant for me to start looking online (yes, in this instance google actually helped) and I found endometriosis- something I’d never heard of before, that my gynecologist had never mentioned as matching my symptoms.
Reading about it I immediately felt sick to my stomach and just knew that’s what was wrong with me. Come to find out two of my dads sisters had endometriosis.
I basically went to my gynecologist and told him I had it; give me a laparoscopy because I want to get pregnant.
I had my surgery within a week and it was found I had stage 3 endometriosis. Thankfully they were able to remove most of it and I was after able to conceive. I’m glad I trusted intuition and didn’t waste more time trying when there was no way I would have gotten pregnant without the surgery.

I was told by three male drs (specialists) at age 18 that my pain was all in my head and that my pain couldn’t be that bad to bring me to tears or pain when I wasn’t on my period. I finally went to a highly recommended female OBGYN in my area after two years of being prescribed Vicodin by a general Practitioner (also a man) after I started having side effects and the female recommended Gyno convinced me to do the surgery to “see” if I had what she suspected was endo and lo and behold I was stage 4. I had the surgery one more time after that a few years later and I refuse to do it anymore because it just keeps coming back. I have tried a million birth controls but they all make it worse. And don’t even get me started on the implant BC that was the WORST, it made my pain multiply. Point being. Listen to your body, it’s not in pain for no reason and don’t let anyone let you think you are crazy for being in pain. Weather you have endo or not after your surgery you are doing what’s best for yourself because if it’s not endo that means the dr can do other tests to see why your in pain.

I knew something was wrong cause the pain and symptoms just got worse and worse and I just couldn't take it anymore. Ultrasounds were coming back fine. Had my surgery yesterday and it was confirmed. I don't know what stage yet though. I follow up in two weeks and to see about a medication treatment plan.

Both yes and no. I knew something was off, yes, but I convinced myself that they wouldn’t find anything and that it was all in my head. I had to reassure myself that the doctor wouldn’t take his time to go in if he didn’t think he would find something, most likely?

I knew nothing different until my gyno said she suspected. Thankfully I had a cyst that required surgery and she was able to get to the suspected endo. This was also 10 years ago and it was much less common and a lot less information available so more of an innocence. But there was a bit of relief once surgery actually happened and worth the $$ if thats the question.
