When women lie about their birth experience
I want to start by saying that I am not here to judge anyone by how they chose to bring their baby into the world. No matter what method you chose, drugs or no drugs, you are a HERO. That being said, I am seriously bothered by my younger sister, who had her baby in August, who keeps claiming to have had a drug free birth. She had TWO epidurals (apparently the first one failed), followed by a spinal and eventually general anesthesia for a last minute c section (yes, she was totally unconscious for her c section). Just because the first epidural didn't take she claims to have had no pain medicine, despite everything she was given following that first failed epidural. I told her labor hurts, you're going to feel pain and discomfort, even with the meds, but as soon as they gave the spinal you should be completely numb and with the general anesthesia you definitely didn't feel anything. She keeps posting all this stuff to Facebook like she's better than all the moms that used pain meds and it's really pissing me off because to me she is lying and saying things that will upset other people on purpose. As someone who has taken classes to educate myself on the different pain management options and is about to give birth any week now I'm definitely more sensitive to this issue. I have not said more to her than what I mentioned in this post because I dont need the added stress late in my pregnancy and dont want to fight with her, but I just know if she mentions something about her "meds free" birth after I give birth I'm gonna snap.
