Do dentists give antibiotics for an abscessed tooth before removing the tooth to get rid of the infection or after removing the tooth? My 8 year old is going tomorrow to have an abscessed baby tooth removed. She's had this abscess off and on since right before Christmas, but it was gone before we could get her to the dentist. She went last Monday and it was there and they said it was an abscessed baby tooth and it had to be removed and that was it. I figured they would have gave antibiotics for the infection. Input?
