Covering baby?

Question

So I'm a helicopter mom and I plan on covering my son in public outings (not the entire time) after hes born. For moms who have used covers how long did you cover for as in age wise (weeks, months, years)

I only plan to cover to keep baby from the outdoor elements as I live in Canada... but once indoors I wont keep baby covered 
Let them enjoy and explore the world... if baby is healthy allow their immune system to work...
Try and find a balance mamma... your human, not a helicopter - your gonna run out of gas fast!  Enjoy ur baby

I kept my babe covered until he started playing with the cover which was around 7 months

What’s a helicopter mom  ? I’m curious. 
Is it to keep baby from germs etc ? This is my fourth baby & found that trying to keep them from anything is stressful & useless. 
My little boy was preterm and I never tried to protect him from anything once he got out of nicu - he’s my least “sicky” kid never catches anything.

I never did. My daughter was immune compromised due to Laryngomalacia and only has been sick three times in her life. Two of those times were within the last two or three months. She's two.

I’m guessing you are talking about the random strangers at the grocery store who think they can just come up and touch your babies hands and cute little face because “they just can’t help it” 🙄. It drives me insane!! I want to scream go away I don’t know where your hands have been!  I always try to keep my babies mostly covered with a car seat canopy until they are like 6 months old. I just open the bottom so I can see the baby and so they don’t overheat. But honestly sometimes there’s nothing you can do. Some people just don’t understand personal space and will rip the car seat cover right off the look at the baby.

I have a milk snob cover for the first 3 months+ I pretty much covered baby whenever we went out. After that I would cover her when she was asleep.
