IUD???

Question

I have an OB appointment next week, I’ve been on birth control in the past but have been looking into getting an IUD. Please comment your personal experience positives and negatives with an IUD and which kind! Thanks 💕

I had the skyla IUD i did have cramping about the first 3 days but after that it took my period & symptoms almost completely away & before i got it i only got my period every other month for about 10 days & when i got it removed i had a healthier & more regular period every month for 5-6 days it was honestly the best birth control i ever had it was totally worth it . I also had nexplanon the one that goes in your arm it was the WORSE for me at least . about a week after i got it i started my period & it never stopped until i got it removed i literally bled for 8 months straight .. not a little spotting a full on heavy flow EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR 8 MONTHS . It also made me have extreme mood swings & depression

I had the paragard after my son was born. Did take about 2 month of adjusting but i didnt get the negative side affects like heavy cramping or bleeding. It did extend my period by a day or two but those extra days were more like spotting than anything else. Overall i was happy with it and once we decided to TTC, i got pregnant the month after getting it removed. I plan on getting a new paragard after baby is born.

Getting my iud hurt pretty bad and I think I have a high pain tolerance. It might’ve been because I’m a virgin and never had a pap before that? I’ve had it for over a year and it’s alright but I’m thinking of switching to the nexplanon
