Anyone getting a birth photographer?

It is typically pricey. They have to be able to drop everything and be there when baby is ready. Also, high quality photography is expensive. You get what you pay for.

I did with my last pregnancy and loved that we went with one! My photographer was very thorough in what I wanted captured and what I didn’t. She went on call at 37 weeks (technically at term) and I was just advised to keep her posted on my appointments after that to give her an idea of how things were progressing (even though there’s not much that will accurately indicate labor happening soon or not). I love looking back at the pictures bc I was so in the zone while laboring that I completely missed my husband being so attentive, even though I knew he was there.. just to see how intense it was for him too was worth it all! Seeing those first moments over and over again are so amazing! She charged about $1,000 but prints were included.

It is very common in our area to hire a doula that is also a photographer. A package like that runs $1000-$1500. Well worth it as a first time mom who prefers not to have family in the room— someone to coach and support you through childbirth and take pictures of you meeting your sweet baby sounds like a no brained to me, if you can afford it.

I am. The woman that done my maternity pictures just so happens to be one of the nurses that tried to save my fiancé after he was shot and she is willing to do mine for free and put in holographic pictures of him to make it look like he is there also. She would normally charge a few hundred for the pictures.

I really wanted one but recently lost my job so it’s a luxury I will have to do without. I was looking at around that price as well and it seemed reasonable for the time they have to commit to you and then the editing process. My sister says she can take pictures for me but I just think a photographers eye knowns how to capture certain moments we would overlook. If I hit the lotto I’m definitely going for it lol. Now I just have to find spare cash to play the lotto 😂😂

If she makes it to the hospital my sister will do it for free. She’s pretty decent with a camera and I’m not after anything too fancy, I just want the memories even if they’re in bad lighting.
