Waiting a week?

I’m sorry but waiting a week for blood work is just plain stupid. If cholestasis is so scary and a big issue if you have it where you have to get induced because of it. Why does blood work take a week to get back?

Yea I called the place that did my testing.. still st Elizabeth but they said they have to send it off site and that’s the typical turn around time. What a load of bs. 
All I’m saying is cholestasis is super bad to have so I have to wait a week for my test then wait more time to be induced I just feel like this testing system we have needs to be improved

My Cholestasis test took 3 days each time to get back. It had to be sent to a special lab for processing and only a few places in the US test for it.

Are that special tests? My full bloodwork came after 30 minutes last week 😐

That’s crazy long wait I’m signed up through MyChart so I get all my results that way and if there’s an issue my doctor always calls. The only things that take a while is when they’ve had to do a urine culture it can take a couple days. Our ob clinic has a lab on site and the hospital is connected so maybe that’s why my turn around time are so fast when I’ve gotten any tests

If they have to send it out then that is usually pretty standard

I called because I had it taken on Friday and asked if they had my results back and the up front lady I’m assuming said it would take a week for the results. 
I don’t know if that’s true but I’m going to be calling everyday!

Maybe its 7 days before they give you the results but they give them to your doctor sooner. Call you doctor and ask

It shouldn’t - did they actually tell you it would take a week? Usually it’s 48 hours or less, especially for something more urgent

Uh yeah mine takes at most 48 hours and that’s for the fancy tests underused test like my clotting tests they check on a regular basis for me to check my levels. I’ve never had it take more than 2 days.
