When do they start checking for dilation

I know every doctor is different but I wanted to know the majority of the time.

Most don’t start until 36 weeks. I’ve been 3cm dilated for 2 weeks now. I’m now 38 weeks pregnant. I wish I didn’t know how dilated I am because it honestly means nothing and every cramp or pain I feel makes me think I’m going into labor. It’s unnecessary and causes a lot of unnecessary stress in my opinion.

You don’t have to be checked until you’re in labor. My doctor wanted to start at 36 but I refused the exams until 40 weeks.

38+ weeks at my request. She said she only checks if you request it. Otherwise they wait until you’re in labor or over due. (I don’t know if that’s everyone but that’s my office. Kaiser NorCal).

my dr started checking around 36 weeks she kept pushing to induce me because my daughter was due the week of Christmas. Guess what my daughter was born Christmas Day and my dr was on vacation 😱😑

They can check for you at around 36 weeks. My midwife said she could but she doesn’t usually do it because it doesn’t actually give any information, just false hope. Even with that said, I opted to be checked when I was pregnant with my first. This time, I probably won’t.
