Any teachers/ta’s??

Hello ladies, 
I’m currently a ftm due in August and I was just wondering if anybody knew if it was possible to start my maternity leave in September instead of throughout the summer as I should have my summer holidays paid anyway. 
I will ask my employer, but I just wanted to see if anybody had been in a similar situation.

Congratulations! I'm a teacher also due at the start of August! My understanding is that your Mat leave has to start the day (or day after?) baby is born, at the latest.

You wouldn’t be able to leave it til September unless baby wasn’t born until then, but I would say your due date as the start of your mat leave is the latest you can start it

What date in August are you due? 
My understanding is maternity leave would start the day after baby is born as I think legally you have to take 2 weeks off after birth so you don’t really have a choice in the matter. 
But I’m no expert, this is what I was told x

Do you get paid holiday pay during the summer or is your salary divided by 12 equal payments if that's makes sense. If it's holiday pay then you could ask then to hold off using your holidays until after your maternity pay has ran out.
