Put 10 year old or baby/toddler in basement
So our home has 4 bedrooms, one in the unfinished basement, 3 upstairs (mine & my SOs, my 12 year old sons and the nursery).
We have 3 boys ages 16, 12 and 6 months. Currently, my 16 yo son occupies the basement bedroom, my 12 year old son occupies one upstairs bedroom and since my niece came to live with us in September, she is staying in the nursery and the baby sleeps in his crib in our room.
The plan was to move my niece to the basement when it's finished (the summer or sooner) and do a makeshift bedroom for her for a few years until my 16 year old graduates and moves out (in about 2-1/2 years).
But my SO thinks we should put our baby down there instead. So the baby would be down there from the age of 1 to 3 or 4 years old.
What would you do?
Photo of basement currently. It's a walk-out basement. Outside of the sliding glass doors is an in-ground pool and our backyard.
The black arrow pointing to the door is where my 16 year old sons room is.
