My story!
So, I’ve been contemplating posting but I think it would be awesome to share my story.
On January 23rd I was 39 weeks exactly. My SO woke up at 2am to get ready for work and I woke up to go to the bathroom and something just felt off. I went back and laid in bed on my phone and just hung out with my SO until he left for work at 2:30am. About 2:45 I realized that I was having contractions that were getting stronger, so I decided to get in a hot bath to see if that would help since I’ve been having BH since 33 weeks. I stayed in the bath until about 5am and ended up calling my mom for her to come in and help me through the contractions and to see if it was the real thing. Around 6am I got out of the bath and we went into my room to watch a movie and sit on my yoga ball to try and distract myself from the pain. At this point the pain was still bearable but getting increasingly worse and I was throwing up every few contractions and was just trying to keep water down. At 7:30am I decide to call my OB to see if I should go in and she said to head on in. I was 2cm and 70% at my last appointment and when we got to the hospital I was at 3cm 90% so they decided they would allow me to walk around or get in a jacuzzi to see if I could get further along. Around 11am they came in to check me again and no change. At this point I could barely move/ talk through the contractions and they made me miserable. My mom was such a trooper helping me out and just keeping my mind off of things. After they checked me I asked if there was anything they could give me to help me take a little nap because I was exhausted. They gave me some morphine and something else so I got about 2 hours of light sleep waking up for each contraction. They checked me again around 2pm and there was still no change so I went home to try and eat and relax. When I got home I again went straight to the bath and sat in the bath. I stayed in the bath from about 3pm-9pm trying to just relax enough to let my body dilate. By this time I couldn’t keep water down and every 3rd contraction I was throwing up. At 10pm my SO went back into the hospital because the pain was just too much and I was so tired. When we got there I was 4cm and 95%, so there was some change. When I went in I was severely dehydrated so I got an IV for fluids and another round of morphine to try and sleep. At 2:30am I was finally 5cm and they could admit me! My OB told me I just needed to get to 5 cm and I could get admitted and the epidural. Around 4 or 5am the anesthesiologist came in to administer the epidural. It took 7 pokes but I finally got the sweet relief of the epidural. At 7:30am I was checked again and I was 7cm and 95%. I was able to sleep from when I got the epidural until 7:30am. At 8am my water broke on its own. I did end up needing pitocin to keep contractions going, but it was fine. At about 9am I started to feel the contractions again and they got INTENSE. I ended up needing the anesthesiologist to come in and give me a volume because it wasn’t working anymore. That happened around 11:30-11:45am. Right after that my OB came in to check me and I was 10cm complete and head engaged! At noon I started pushing and at 1:07pm January 24th baby boy was born. I didn’t tear and barely pooped 😂
He weighed 7.6 lbs and was 20.5 in. long
