Ectopic Pregnancy Questions

So af is due today and I took a test this morning and it was negative. Which made me assume af was around the corner. I ended up needing to leave work today because I had a blinding headache that made me nauseous (assuming it’s unrelated) and I ended up going back to sleep to help it go away. Since around noon today I’ve had sharp pains near my right ovary with no appetite. It comes quick and goes. As the day progressed I’ve had brown discharge a few times when I wipe, but no start to af and these pains are coming more and more. The pain is distinctly different then my pms cramps. Can you have a negative test and still have an ectopic? Am I over thinking it?
