How do Tax Returns work?????

My boyfriend got 10 dollars (so sad) last year and this year he’s getting a little over 1k. How is it figured out how much someone gets???

It depends on how much you made.  (Your tax bracket).  How much of your life is a write off or credit.  Then how much you paid into tax for the year.  The remainder is your refund or amount owing.

It's all based on how much a person pays in meaning how they have their w4 set up to take taxes out of their paycheck. If he only got $10 that means he probably didn't have hardly any taxes coming out of his checks or it sounds like he didn't have an actual payroll job for the whole year. If he's getting back 1k now it sounds like he has worked a full year at decent pay and had a normal amount of taxes taken from his pay check.

Just depends how much you make and how much you pay in. I only got 300 last year but this year I’m getting 1000. My boyfriend works in the oilfield now so he’s in a higher tax bracket than he was last year because he makes way more so he doesn’t get back as much.
