Can baby breastfeed after I pump?

Is there any milk left or is it pointless? He’s a little over a week old and I’m working on upping my supply but will give formula when I don’t have any more milk. He will latch on for quite a while but I kinda feel bad is he doing it for comfort ?

At 1 week you don’t want to be trying to “up” your supply. Your supply hasn’t even fully come in yet, and you could end up giving yourself too much of a supply— which can lead to forceful let down, discomfort, and mastitis. 
Feed on demand. Lots of skin to skin. If you -must- pump, pump AFTER feeding, not before. You don’t really want to supplement at this point either, unless your pediatrician or an IBLC recommends it. As long as baby is having enough wet diapers, they’re getting plenty. Their tummy is very small, they only need 1-2 oz at this point.

Your breasts are never empty, so yes baby will get milk. But put away the pump, baby is way more efficient and is most likely clusterfeeding.

You always want to nurse before you pump. At 1 week unless your doctor told you to, you should not be pumping yet. Always put your baby to your breast on demand- this is how your supply regulates. During this time you will have a lot of cluster feeding. A mix of comfort and growth.

Try drinking earl grey tea. It made me produce so much milk that when I feed my son my other breast is just dripping milk & its a lot. It really helped me.

Pump after you nurse. I knew I could only nurse for a limited time due to a medical treatment, so I purposely upped my supply. Most women don’t need to do that, but if you do, always nurse first.
