Birth story!
Let me tell you guys what happened to me the morning of January 7th, 2019 😂
I woke up at 4am with contractions. I had been having some semi-intense Braxton Hicks contractions for like a week at this point and I knew that if you changed positions or move and they go away, they’re not the real deal. So I start tossing and turning in bed but I still feel this like urge to poop that’s not going away lol. This goes on for an hour.
Hubby gets up at 5 to start getting ready for work, so now that he’s up I’m like “ok good. I can get out of bed without waking him up” so I start pacing the house in the dark. Our dog is sitting there looking at me like I’m crazy.
I tell hubby “I think it might be today” while still pacing in the dark 😂 but I tell him “you can still go to work and I’ll keep you updated if you should leave or not.” His job is down the street from the hospital (🙌🏼) so I told him to just go but bring his hospital bag with him just in case they admit me. So he leaves. I start timing my contractions. They’re like 45 seconds long, 6 minutes apart. I call my mom to ask if “this is it” since she’s had experience with this. She doesn’t pick up. I call her like 10 times.
Can you tell it’s starting to hurt? Lol
She comes and picks me up and we get to the hospital at like 8:30am. I still haven’t told hubby to leave. They tell me I’m at 5cm as soon as we get there. I call him and tell him “k get over here. We’re having a baby today!”
I get moved upstairs. Family starts showing up one by one. 3 hours later I ask them to check me again bc at this point I just can’t anymore. I told them NO EPIDURAL but I think I squeezed everyone’s hand to the point of permanent ring marks on their fingers.
So they gave me IV fentanyl. “It kicks in fast” they said, 5 minutes later I’m over here putting the pillow behind me on the moving table tray thing that goes over the bed so I could take a nap. LOOOLLL jokes on me.
The nurse checks me, I’m at an 8. Now I know I can’t push until I’m at 10cm. But here I am like “Can I push now?” “No not yet”
🤷🏼♀️ I tried.
Hubby doesn’t understand how hard it is to have to hold back the watermelon sized poop that’s pushing down every minute ~cuz I can’t push yet~
Nurse asks if I want the dr to break my water. YES. YES I DO. So they break my water and start me on pitocin. That lasted an hour.
Now.... hubby is in the room with me, half the family is waiting in the waiting room and his mom and my mom are downstairs at the cafeteria getting food (thanks for rubbing it in. All I got were ice chips and popsicles)
So just to clarify only one of the three people that I want to be in the room is actually in the room at this point. The other two are 4 floors down from me 😂
The nurse checks me again.
“Ok you’re ready”
“I can push?!!?”
“Yes you’re at 10cm!”
*really bad contraction starts*
“OK GOOD CUZ IM PUSHIN’!!!!”
“No you can’t yet! The doctors not in the room!!”
“NO IM PUSHING!!!”
And guess what. I started pushing.
So now hubby’s calling both our moms to get their butts up to the room NOW and the nurse is walkie talkie’ing the doctor to get in the room ASAP and I’m pushing!
So our moms walk in as it’s already starting. I curse one time. Let out two good screams. And 8 pushes, 10 minutes later our baby boy was born 🥰🥰🥰
Apparently with the last push I screamed out “screw it!!!!” And just pushed and pushed and pushed. I say apparently bc I don’t remember much of those 10 minutes 😂
And at 2:15pm on January 7th 2019, Mason Alexander was born 🥰🥰😍
