Anybody else’s husband have an alcohol problem?? Cause fuck im trying and need help... I need support and people who understand.

My ex-husband is an alcoholic.  I tried for years, but his drinking just started earlier and earlier everyday.  Ultimately he went through every single emotion every single day and for me and the kids it was like walking on egg shells.  Never knowing what would set him off, what persona we’d be receiving.  — Know that with addiction their isn’t anything you can say or do.  He has to want the help, he has to choose the help.  I’ve been divorced 7 years now and his addiction is still very strong.  He’s had numerous serious health issues because of it. At some point you have to remember your health is the most important.  And your kid(s) if you have them.  It’s not wrong to put you first.  No matter how strong the love is.

My ex of 4 years had an alcohol addiction. I got really good at patching holes in drywall. Its hard because when they ate not drinking they can be one person but that need to drink makes them unpredictable. He would say he would cut back and he would for a few weeks but would go right back to excess. But the straw for me was that i started drinking more and started to no longer feel like me.

My husband is a functional alcoholic. It's a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows.  It's been very hard on our marriage. He admits at times that he has a problem but thinks he can fix it himself. After 3 years, he's still trying to fix it himself.  He has no tolerance for stress in life and relapses easily. I hate the lying and hiding of it all. He knows I disapprove and tries to hide it from me. He once said that he doesn't feel normal unless he has something in him (a very telling statement in my opinion). It's not easy but I love him. I try to encourage him to seek help but I'm sure you know how that goes. Recently, he said he needed help but I won't hold my breath for results. His follow through is generally lacking.

My husband is a recovering alcoholic. He hasn’t had a drink in about 2yrs now. In the beginning of our relationship I just thought that he liked to party hard but he would drink to fill a void. I’ve given him plenty of chances, ultimatums, threats, etc n nothing made him full give it up. There were times I had to walk home from work around midnight bc he was shit face n had our only car. My husband is the sweetest man but his drunk side was cruel n would say that worst stuff to me. It was super hard sticking around but I loved him so much n thought he would change for me. A yr n 5months into our relationship we found we were pregnant n I was petrified that my child would have a drunk as a dad. At that time he would try for a good amount of weeks (that I kno of) n not drink but would have a slip up here n there. The last time he drank was a couple weeks after our daughter was born. I would tell him that if he would ever drink to let me kno so that I would never leave him alone with her bc u never kno wat could happen. At that time he didn’t n he was watching her as I took a shower. I was furious wen I got back to the room n realized that he was drunk n lying bout it. We got into a verbal fight n he said that he didn’t care bout us. I blanked out n hit him. I kno I was wrong for doing so n I still regret it but I gave up everything to be his wife n the mother of his child n he could have put our daughter in harms way. Ever since that day he hasn’t drank again bc he now knows I am serious bout protecting myself n my daughter from that type of life n will divorce him in a heartbeat if he ever puts us in that situation again. He didn’t want to lose myself or my daughter so he finally gave it up.
