Do early scan cause miscarriage

Hi i went for an early scan and then miscarriage a few days after at the scan baby was fine with heart beat. But I did have some spotting before the scan 
I'm now pregnant again no blood at all I been having werid stabbing and a lot of ligament pain. They want to send me for an early scan but I'm worried it  will cause a miscarriage.

No they don’t cause miscarriage. There is zero evidence to support that claim. I have had MANY ultrasounds throughout my three previous pregnancies and they all turned out completely fine. If anything, a transvaginal ultrasound may irritate a cervix that is prone to problems, like an incompetent cervix, but that’s not caused by the ultrasound itself, the ultrasound could complicate an issue you already have.

The Chinese have done studies showing that ultrasounds should be limited to medical necessity only because of this reason and others. 
The studies suggest that routine ultrasound tests are unnecessary and can be harmful. 
That being said. I found all this after having two already and have not had any issues personally but I will be opting out of most future ultrasounds with the exception of 20 weeks.

I too miscarried last year...my periods were all over the place so when I fell pregnant I really wasn’t sure how far gone I was...I paid to have an early ultrasound and found out I was 6 weeks  1 day but even saw the heartbeat. It was a vaginal ultrasound. Days later I started bleeding and miscarried. I’m not saying that was the reason but it has always played on my mind that it might have been a factor. I’m now pregnant again at 7 weeks and even though I would love to see the baby on ultrasound I am waiting until my first official 12 week ultrasound. For me personally I won’t have a vaginal ultrasound again unless I really had to. I hope everything works out for you x

According to the Obstetrics and other societies there are risks! I got attacked for saying so last time this was asked! I personally don’t do them in the 1st trimester for this reason! I see it almost daily here, went for ultrasound baby looked great, no signs of problems, for mom to later MC or have another ultrasound a few weeks later that shows baby stopped growing about the time of the previous ultrasound! Look up the studies on your own, read the info, and don’t let anyone bully you into doing something your uncomfortable with because “I did it and was fine”

This topic has really got me in two minds also. Im due a viability scan on friday at 7weeks. They will try abdominal first but i dont know what i will choose if they say they need to try transvaginal. There is no denying that many women seem to have similar stories but i just cant see how it cause it. Its no different to having sex?

Because I think the same.  I was pregnant I was 20 weeks and after I had a transvaginal ultrasound I miscarriage the day after.  Same happened this time I’m 5 weeks 34 d. When I went to have my first prenatal visit they did that again and I started bleeding the following day and I haven’t stopped.   :( I’m kind of concerned.

No, complete coincidence. Miscarriage risk is highest in the first trimester and if someone has an ultrasound & then miscarried, it is coincidence.

You can pretty much say just about anything can cause a miscarriage. We could conduct studies and find plausible evidence to support our theory. 
On a personal note: I’ve had monthly ultrasounds (transvaginal and abdominal) with all my previous pregnancies (5). I’ve never had a miscarriage. I also carry babies and deliver them very easily with no complications. Some woman aren’t as lucky.
Our bodies are all so different. There are so many different factors that cause miscarriages. To specifically pinpoint an ultrasound, I’d have to say the risk is EXTREMELY low.

I’ve had two transvaginal so far and I’m almost 7 weeks. I’m completely fine and i don’t think my doctor would ever put me at risk. He’s been doing this for 20+ years
