What formula are you planning on?

I plan to breastfeed but I also want the best formula I can get as a back up. It’s my first child so I want to be prepared. What formula are you going to use?

Babies react differently to brands and type of formula. Sensitive, soy, regular, and so on. My girl reacted a lot with Enfamil regular and sensitive and then with Similac regular but was okay with their sensitive. So I would advise not stacking up until you're able to know which works for your baby.

None. I figure if I can’t solely breastfeed my pediatrician will point me in the right formula direction.

I wouldn’t plan on buying a bunch, because you don’t know what baby will tolerate. You’ll get samples of stuff in the mail and in welcome packs; try those and go with something baby seems to like.

Well it depends on baby. Either way if your going to supplement formula look for supplementing ones and ones that are definitely broken down in the lactose department. That's the biggest concern with formula is the dairy and lactose. So watch your baby when your breastfeeding aftrr you have milk you'll notice how their body reacts when its in your milk and that to can help point you in the right direction. My second son was allergic to dairy had to be on nutramigen. When he was born the dairy in my breast milk made his eyes red and swollen and he vomit horribly and made his jaundice rise. Just things to look for :) I am ready this time with this one. I am just literally gonna have to cut out a lot of dairy and introduce it slowly 😊

Your baby may have specific needs for formula which will help you choose. I had to stop breast feeding my first by 10 weeks. He had blood in his stool that didn’t clear up with any diet change I made. We made the decision to switch him to nutramigen (an enfamil brand) we kept him on that until 6 months. I then tried giving him all the stored breast milk I saved to see if he had outgrown whatever issue and he seemed to be fine. After two months of breast milk with no issue we moved him to enfamil gentlease! The gentlease is what pretty much most of the moms I know use! It’s also now a Neuro pro product rather than just their premium brand! You may have to try a few types to get to the right one, but I definitely recommend enfamil in general.

As of right now, I'm planning on similac. We used it with my son and had no issues so as long as this one doesn't have any allergies or needs requiring special formula, that's what we'll use again.

I’m actually surprised by these responses. I thought at least one person would be going for an all natural organic formula. I will do research elsewhere. I only want to buy a couple of cans as back up in case I can’t breastfeed.
