Would/Do you search your childs phone?

Whether you have children, or not, I just created this poll! 😀 Ladies, I'd live to hear your reasoning behind your awnser.

I feel like it’s important for kids to know that you respect their privacy, but I also think it’s important for parents to know what’s going on in their kids’ lives, especially if they suspect that something may be off. I’m not a parent, but I think that there needs to be a mutual respect, where parents agree not to look through the kid’s phone for the heck of it or as a power move, but kids understand that their parents reserve the right to look through photos/text conversations if they are concerned for their wellbeing. I also think that that’s an important conversation to have when they get their first phone, not something to request during an argument or out of the blue.

Yes, as long as I am paying for it I'd absolutely monitor it. This wouldn't be kept a secret. Upon getting the phone, I'd let my child know my plans and intentions. 
If I had an older teenager under 18 paying for their own phone I'd only do it under dire circumstances, like if I suspected he was doing Heroin or something.

I know what it felt like to have my phone probed growing up. It made my friends super uncomfortable, to the point where they would just stop texting me. I wouldn’t do that to my kid, but I might go through the phone if I suspected my child was in danger.

If I had kids, they would have privacy. The only reason I’d check it is if there was some suspicion that something bad was happening. Unless I have proof of that, I’m not touching their phone

My kids r little, so this hasnt come up yet, but ai feel like it is not good to check their phones only when u r suspicious. That just shows u don't trust them. I think it's a good idea to do random checks for safety reasons mostly. There r a lot of crazy people and crazy apps out there, and young teens r not mentally equipped to make the best decisions.  
I think that a conversation needs to be had as soon as the teen gets a phone, that those random checks on the phone will happen for safety reasons.

I would only do it if I actually suspected something was wrong. Doing that kind of stuff makes kids resentful or feel like they have no freedom. I’d want my kids to trust me and be able to tell me things not try and hide things because they’ll think I’m going to punish them

my parents always used to check my phone until i told them i would be open with them if they trusted me more and gave me more privacy nowadays they jus ask me if somethings up or if i have anything to tell them for some reason they would always know...but in the future when i do get kids i want them to trust and respect me as a mom and be open with me they shouldn’t be hiding anything inless they dont feel comfortable telling🔐
