2nd loss and devastated. Should I keep going?

Danielle

Hi all,

I’m 40 and currently losing my second pregnancy in 8 months.

My first loss was confirmed as trisomy 21. At my 8 wk u/s yesterday, there was no heartbeat, and though my OB can’t say for sure, she suspects another chromosomal abnormality by the looks of the large yolk sac. I’m scheduled for a D&C in the morning but cramping and bleeding fairly heavily at the moment. I wasn’t going to have them test the baby, but I may.

Hubby and I loosely decided that if this one didn’t work, we would stop trying. However, the finality of that decision is hitting me now.

My question is: has anyone had several losses to chromosomal anomalies and went on to a healthy pregnancy? It’s very hard to not feel defeated and I’m VERY scared to ever have to go through this again. But we want a baby so badly. We are considering adoption. I have zero issue getting pregnant, I’ve had success every time the first month trying.

Any thoughts or advice? Thank you so much in advance. My heart is so broken, I need some guidance, either way.
