Giving birth in the US
I'm reading some comments on this new insurance ad, and the amount of money some of you ladies are paying for birth is INSANE. I just wanted to know, why stay in the US? You could take a full freaking medical vacation and give birth free somewhere else, and still save money.
So why not? Does it just not occur to you? Don't know how to go about it? Pregnancy got you too tired to put in the effort? 4 kids at home already and it sounds like a nightmare?
PreDisclaimer: Obviously this applies to certain people, not everyone.
Update:
I'm impressed at how many of you are adamantly against this, but thank you for sharing.
I ask this because medical tourism is a real thing, especially from the US; even paid for services in other countries are often cheaper. An example I've heard many times is that for the cost of an uninsured hip replacement, a person could literally move to Spain for a year and get their hip replaced TWICE for the cost of doing it in the US.
