Did anyone watch The business of being born?

Question

Has anyone watched the Business of being born and got seriously scared of having a baby in the hospital or actually went to a midwife?  Its a wonderful show to learn your options of a birth plan and I learned a lot!

I watched it..... I ended up with an emergency c section. If I had been at home or at a birthing center, I would've been transferred to the hospital for said c section. Sometimes you don't get to make the decision, your body does. I'm grateful for modern medicine and that me and my baby are healthy and alive.

My husband and I already knew we want to have a home birth with a midwife. However I watched that documentary and it just reinforced everything

It did the exact opposite to me. Ricky Lake was blasted by a bunch of OBs for this movie. It made me do some research. I can't imagine not delivering in a hospital or having an actual doctor deliver my baby.

It definitely pushed me to do research, which has lead to the decision if at all possible I'm staying home with a midwife

Love that documentary! My SO and I watched it and it made him more open to having a home birth or going to a birthing center. I would definitely say you have to take the opinions of the hospital with a grain of salt though because the documentary was filmed in 2008 and there has definitely been a change in how most hospitals approach birth now in 2015 (some allow you to have water births and are more lenient on what you can do while in labor). I think it's an excellent documentary to put aside "fears" of having a midwife and not having a baby in a hospital

See the second one. The only thing I wish had not seen were Ricki Lakes boobs lol.

I believe that although it had some good information, it was entirely biased and should be taken with a grain of salt.

I watched it and had a natural birth at a hospital. Just be educated- then make your choices and evaluate your Dr's decisions. Also get to the hospital layer rather than earlier 😉
