What age do you consider appropriate to start TTC?

I am 22, my boyfriend is 25. We have been together for 4 years, we live together, both are working. We decided about 3 months ago that we wanted to start trying for baby #1. We are very much in love, healthy relationship, financially stable. The whole 9... When I have told Co workers or mentioned that I'm TTC to various people I get a lot of judgement! Because of my age, the majority of people I speak to seem to think I can't be ready to have a baby. I dont let it dampen my spirits but it does frustrate me from time to time. I feel like I'm constantly having to defend myself so I try not to bring it up as much as possible now. What age do you think it's appropriate to start trying?

I think the problem is that you're constantly defending your decision. You're a consenting adult TTC with another consenting adult - you really don't need to explain that to people. When they throw judgement your way, just shrug your shoulders and say, "our decision works for us." Repeat until people get bored. If you're feeling saucy, you could always say, "Thanks for all the practice dealing with the unsolicited opinions of others - I've heard that only gets worse once you're pregnant!"

Where you're at is exactly where I was at when dh and I started ttc #1, it's like reading my own story! 😄 at the time we got a bit of judgement as we were the first ones in our circle of friends to get pregnant, but it was the best decision ever! Our daughter is now 3 and we're expecting #2 in February 😊 if you and your SO feel you're ready for a baby, don't let anyone tell you otherwise just because you're in your 20's 😊

I got married June 6, 2015 when I was still 21 and my husband was 23. We conceived the week of our birthdays June 22-28,2015. I'm now 22 and pregnant with triplets. If people judge you or have negative comments obviously you don't need them in your life.

I also think it's about a stable relationship too. I think it's better that a 22 year old who has been with her partner for 4 years is probably better off than a 28 year old who has known a guy for 6 months. It's different if they're above 35 though because they have to have kids soon and I understand that.

Firstly you need to be mature enough to have and raise a child. Life doesnt happen perfectly you may fall young, be a single parent, have a child befor a house and mariage but as long as that baby/child has everything they need from a parent thats when i think its the right time. Take away the materialistic things and all you need is to be ready to commit yourself entirely for life. Ive seen some of the best parents at age 17 then not so good parents at age 30 who cant provide for there child ect.  Its not a matter of age its when your ready.

My fiancée is 29. I am 21. He has two children already and we didn't want a huge age gap between them so we started our family a little earlier than I would have liked to but it was the right decision for us and that's all that matters.

Whenever you're comfortable to start and are happy in your relationship, I'm 24 and my husband is 26, we're financially stable as well and pregnant with our first.
