My premature birth story!!
I got admitted on nov 28th for a shortened cervix and being 2 cm dilated. I was 31 weeks at this point. Finally when they got me a room my water broke when they put in the catheter so my original 3 day planned stay turned into staying until I deliver!
I talked to my doctor the next day and they told me they’d induce me at 34 weeks since my water broke. They also have me steroid shots to develop baby Skylynn’s lungs since she would in fact be premature.
I stayed there for 10 days and then I started having the most painful feeling I’ve ever had. Now I was sure these were labor pains but the nurses said they weren’t showing up on the monitor as contractions and basically I have a very low pain tolerance and I’m feeling Braxton Hicks.. this made me feel like such a wimp. But after 24 hours of these pains and being told they weren’t real contractions, I felt the need to push. Like the nurses always told me would happen when they induce me or if I went into labor on my own. But how could I be?? They’re we’re just Braxton Hicks right?? Or were the nurses wrong?
The doctor comes into check me and I’m EIGHT CM!! I had planned on getting an epidural at 5 cm no wonder I was screaming my head off in pain!!! I was and had been in labor for almost 24 hours and no one knew!! (Except me but no one listens to a 15 year old girl having her first baby lol)
They wheel me back into the OR and the only person that could make it in time was my grandma who has been there for hours already. I live 5 minutes away from the hospital and my mom still wasn’t there in time! They told me I had no time for an epidural and I needed to push. Well I had actually been screaming that the whole way down the hallway but hearing it from the doctor meant it was really time.
I was extremely scared to have a natural birth but lucky for me 3 or 4 pushes and baby Skylynn was into the world. I look down and I see what I’ve created. A beautiful babygirl. She got her nose suctioned and then the most beautiful thing happened. I heard my daughter cry for the first time. And then of course I was balling, my grandma was balling, and the nurses and doctor were smiling.
I was unable to get any pictures of the birth bcuz it was in OR and no pictures were allowed for sanitary reasons.
She stayed in the nicu for 3 weeks.
Here are some pics I got after the birth💓
At first she was eating and then she stopped so she had to get a feeding tube
Looked uncomfortable but she was still such a happy baby
She came home Christmas <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glow.android.eve">Eve</a>
