Water?

Question

Is anyone giving their babies water yet? We just started rice cereal and some veggies and I was reading online that often when babies start solids they need some water as well. My doctor didn’t really say anything to us about this so I’m just curious if anyone else has information about this. TIA

Yep after we eat I let her have her sippy cup and whatever she gets out of it she can have. Usually just a few drinks. She also took about 3 drinks off my water the other morning just because she was curious . I don't force it though. I usually help her take at least one drink just to wash the purée down but the rest is all her.

Haven’t started it yet because she’s not crazy about solids yet. But I do remember with my first that the pediatrician recommended only a few sips per day.

I was told at 6 months no more than 2oz of plain water per day

I was told that they don't need water because it has zero calories. Breastmilk and Formula is mainly water, so that should be enough. But, she also said that he could have 2oz a day if I wanted to put a sippy cup on his high chair for feedings.

Nope. Probably won't until she is a year old. With my almost 2 year old our pediatrician didn't recommend water before 1 because according to him children aren't plants they are babies. They need more than water to grow. A lot  of people told us it would cause our daughter to hate water if we waited that long. Wasn't true in our case at all. She LOVES water and drinks it all day long. She has milk twice a day and the rest is all water. She drinks atleast 6 bottles of water a day.

I've tried, but my son doesn't seem to like water very much. He also never really learned to take a bottle so he has to overcome that as well. I'll probably try a sippy cup soon

We went through a bought of Thrush almost two weeks ago. I started giving baby girl a bottle with a tiny bit of water to rinse her mouth out after each nursing session and during meals (instead of the usual breast milk). I just made sure it measured no more than 2 oz by end of day.
She loved it so much I’ve continued to give it to her at meals. 
My mom says I loved water as a baby, so maybe that’s where she gets it from bc it’s really fascinating. She really likes it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Can’t complain about that I guess! (Thank God because so far she hates her greens 🤣.)
