Help ladies

So yesterday i was having contractions (im 34 weeks 3 days) and i went to the hospital because they were 5 mins apart. They monitored my contractions and they were very close together and when they did a cervix check i was 1cm dilated...they gave me an iv so see if i was dehydrated and to see if the iv made my contractions further apart. Thank god it did. Because i cannot have my baby girl now... Worse case was if it didnt slow my contractions down they would have given me steriods for the babys lungs( i was haveing a panic attack thinking please god i dont want that to happen) but like i said my contractions slowed down alot but i was still 1cm dilated. Now heres my question to you ladies...the doc said sometimes after a cervix check there can be spotting...but what seems to be coming out is brown slimely discharge..and i think its my mucus plug breaking up....i go to the doctor on monday and im just concerned that if it is the mucus plug...is my water gonna break next..or can the plug come out and i can still deliver my baby when its time?
