Has anyone here got married then had the wedding later?

Our plan is to elope in Hawaii eventually. Then we will have a reception for our family members.

I haven’t yet but that’s what I would prefer one day. An elopement between me and my future SO. And the later on a wedding for family to attend. I really prefer very private things and think I would be nice to actually get married without everyone watching, then the wedding could just be for fun and no pressure.

We had a ceremony in January and are having a reception in May

We had a small, family only wedding ceremony in February and had an open-house style reception in June. I don’t regret it at all.

No, I find the idea silly. You have a wedding when you get married. Either wait to get married or don’t have a wedding
