Can birth control make you depressed?

Question

I’ve been taking birth control for the past 12 days i preparation for an IVF cycle. The past 3 days I’ve been feeling very down and negative. Before that I’ve felt at peace, excited and positive. Idk if it’s the nerves of IVF kicking in or if it’s the birth control. I would love any advice

It's very common for hormonal contraception to cause depression and anxiety.

I was suicidal while on birth control

Yes it’s quite common. I felt very blah and removed while on BC. 
Also, the hormones with IVF will definitely give you some mental health side effects. I felt INTENSE anxiety on cookie and wanted to literally run away. If possible take them at bedtime so the peak of the effects will hopefully be while you sleep!

I was so depressed! I think I could’ve gone on with the other symptoms but feeling depressed was a deal breaker. I stopped taking them! Can’t be putting something in my body that messes with my “head”.
