Too much folate??

Katie

Hello ladies, I’m 25 weeks pregnant now and have been taking 1200 mcg’s of folate. When I decided that I wanted to take the extra folate I had done some research online to make sure the dose was safe and read that you can’t take too much of it.. Fast forward, at my last Sonogram, at 22 weeks, my babygirl clearly had her eyes wide open and we saw her blink! We were astonished because according to all studies the baby’s eyes are sealed shut until around 26-28 weeks of gestation! After seeing that I was so excited to think she was advanced in her development but on the other hand, I also began to worry as well and decided to once again look up whether folate is safe to take in high doses..? My prenatal doctor never said anything when I told her I was supplementing the folate, but my last two visits with her were rushed so now I’m feeling like maybe she wasn’t paying proper attention? Anyway, point is that now I’m reading that I shouldn’t go over 1000mcg’s of folate because more than that can post a risk to autism AND I AM FREAKING OUT!! What did I do??! How did I not see this at the beginning when I originally did my research?! Please help me.. have any of you ladies ever taken that much folate? Are you and baby ok?? 😭
