I LOVE this name, but I know no one would ever call my daughter that because it’s so long, even her dad and I. She would be called Josie most of the time so it feels pointless. What do you think?

I would do Josephine. You may call her Josie, sure, but she may prefer the full name and want to go by that personally or professionally.

If that’s the name you like then go for it. There was a girl back in high school who had that name and you’d hear her full name or her nickname. It’s what they or the parents prefer. There’s tons of people in this world who don’t even go by their real name 🤷🏽‍♀️

I like full names for nicknames, even if you plan to call her Josie all the time. I am thankful all the time that my parents opted for a full name, because I never identified with the nickname they called me, and it ended up being an easier adjustment than having to go the legal route. Plus, for professional or other reasons, she may want to go by Josephine one day!
